Local Job Creation and Sustainable Agribusiness

On November 29, 2024, Hon. Musamali Paul, Hon. Musangabatware Clement, and Hon. Olivier Nkurunziza visited the sugarcane and avocado plantation of Hon. Namara Dennis in Kagadi, Uganda. The plantation, managed by Hon. Namara Dennis, is a prime example of sustainable agriculture contributing to regional development. With a workforce of 30 permanent staff and over 500 casual workers, the enterprise plays a significant role in job creation and economic empowerment within the local community. During the visit, Hon. Namara highlighted his innovative farming methods, which focus on maximizing productivity while promoting environmental conservation. The EALA Members praised the initiative for its impact on food security, income generation, and regional trade, emphasizing the critical role such ventures play in advancing the East African Community’s goals. The visit reaffirmed EALA’s commitment to supporting agricultural enterprises and fostering policies that enhance agribusiness, employment opportunities, and economic integration across the region.
